Portable Device Convergence

I own an ipod, a cellphone, and a nintendo DS. Wouldn't it be nice if they could all be merged into one? just like Voltron, except with less roaring. Its nice in theory, but in reality, it wouldn't be very good because, for different uses, you need different size devices. My phone, I want it to be slim and unobtrusive. This is the only device I carry in my pocket at all times. It also needs to be pretty durable, because I give my phone a beating! No other device gets more scratched up, dropped, or drooled and chewed on by my baby. Its too small to feel like a comfortable gaming device. I've never been tempted to buy a game for it, because all the demos I've tried suck. My DS on the other hand is great for games, but it will never have a permanent home in my pocket. I just don't need to have constant access to games at a moments notice, and my pocket space is far too limited. Its more likely to be something I'll throw in my bag when I'm going somewhere. The iPod I mainly enjoy because I like the iPod / iTunes combo. Its so easy to make playlists, and download new songs. I also like the click-wheel interface. I can't imagine a better way for easily scrolling through long lists. while that interface is perfect for what it does, its pretty useless for everything else.

So in conclusion, the idea of an all-in-one device is great in theory, but in practice, I just can't see any one device being able to do what the individual devices as well, without having to sacrifce something.
